Lane Cove Tunnel

The Lane Cove Tunnel services Sydney's north-west corridor. It is part of the orbital road network and connects to the Hills M2 motorway.

Federal Urban Infrastructure Minister Alan Tudge officially opens the long-awaited NorthConnex twin tunnel motorway with NSW Premier Gladys Berejiklian and NSW Transport Minister Andrew Constance. The new nine-kilometre tunnel links the M1 Pacific Motorway at Wahroonga to the Hills M2 Motorway at West Pennant Hills, bypassing one of NSW’s most congested routes, Pennant Hills Road. NorthConnex will allow motorists to bypass 21 sets of traffic lights along Pennant Hills Road. Motorists will also be able to drive from Newcastle to Melbourne without a single set of traffic lights. Major construction on the $3 billion project started in June 2015. NorthConnex will open to traffic in the early hours of Saturday, October 31.

NorthConnex is a nine kilometre twin tunnel linking the M1 Pacific Motorway at Wahroonga to the Hills M2 Motorway at West Pennant Hills in Sydney’s north.
